Lieutenant Colonel DeWolfe was commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Class Program in December 1994 and reported to The Basic School in June 1995.  Immediately thereafter, he commenced flight training and was designated a Naval Aviator in February 1999.

In March 2000, he reported to VMFA-122 and deployed to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP).  Following a second UDP with the “Crusaders,” he reported to 2d Marine Division where he deployed as a Forward Air Controller, with 2d Tank Battalion, for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In November 2003, Captain DeWolfe returned to VMFA-122 and served as the Pilot Training Officer.  Shortly after being promoted to Major, he served as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer.  During this tour, he deployed on his third UDP, transferred to Marine Aircraft Group 31 Headquarters — for duty as the Group WTI — and deployed to Iraq as the 2d MAW (Fwd) Assistant Operations Officer.
In June 2008, Major DeWolfe graduated from the United States Army’s Command and General Staff College and reported for duty at HQMC.  Upon completion of his HQMC tour in 2010, he reported to 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, MCAS Miramar, CA.  Upon arrival, he volunteered for a one year joint duty billet and deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan where he served with the ISAF Joint Command.  During this tour, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.

Upon return from Afghanistan, Lieutenant Colonel DeWolfe reported to MCAS Beaufort, where he served as the MAG-31 Operations Officer from July 2012 to June 2013.  Lieutenant Colonel DeWolfe assumed command of VMFA-122 in July 2013 and deployed as part of UDP in March 2014.  He relinquished command of VMFA-122 on 1-22-2015 and assumed his current duty as the Marine Aircraft Group 31 Executive Officer.

Lieutenant Colonel DeWolfe is married and has four sons.  His personal decorations include the Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
