Sergeant Major Michael Lambert VMFA(AW)-224 Sergeant Major

Sergeant Major Michael Lambert enlisted in the Marine Corps on 24 August 1996, and completed Recruit Training at Parris Island, South Carolina.  He attended Automotive Organizational Mechanics Course at Camp Johnson, N.C., and was assigned the specialty of Motor Transport Diesel Mechanic.  After graduation, Sergeant Major Lambert reported for duty with 3rd Force Service Support Group, Camp Kinser, Okinawa where he served as a mechanic and was later promoted to Lance Corporal.  While stationed in Okinawa he participated in Operation Cobra Gold 1998 and soon after received orders to 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton CA.  After spending two years on Camp Pendleton and being promoted to both Corporal and Sergeant, Sergeant Major Lambert received orders to MSG School (Class 4-00).  Upon completion of school he was assigned as a Marine Security Guard at the American Embassy San Jose, Costa Rica. After 15 months in San Jose, Sergeant Major Lambert received orders to the American Consulate Karachi, Pakistan and was promoted to Staff Sergeant.  In 2003 Sergeant Major Lambert received orders to 1st Maintenance Battalion, Camp Pendleton C.A. and deployed in support OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM from January 2004 – September 2004. After returning from Iraq he received orders to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division.  In 2006 Sergeant Major Lambert deployed back to Iraq from March 2006 to January 2007 where he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on 1 December 2006.  After four years on Camp Pendleton, he received orders back to Marine Security Guard School (Class 4-07). His first post was at the American Embassy Nicosia, Cyprus and his second post was the American Embassy Prague, Czech Republic. In 2010 Sergeant Major Lambert was promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to 2d Supply Battalion. In June 2012 he checked into Combat Logistics Battalion 8 and deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 13-1. Upon return from deployment Sergeant Major Lambert received orders to I&I duty, Delta Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, Knoxville, TN.

Sergeant Major Lambert assumed his current position as the Squadron Sergeant Major of VMFA(AW)-224 on 24 March 2016.

Awards: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device “V” and (2) gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (1) gold star in lieu of 2nd award, Combat Action Ribbon (1) gold star in lieu of 2nd award.
